Could you be putting your employees at risk?

Have you heard the term VOC? If you answered no then you probably don’t know that your copier is likely producing them. VOC refers to volatile organic compounds and the one that copiers make the most of is ozone. While it’s good to have in the sky, ozone is pretty hard on lungs. Here are some of the effects of ozone according to Web MD.

  • Lung irritation and inflammation
  • Coughing, wheezing, and pain when taking a deep breath
  • Permanent lung damage with repeated exposure
  • Aggravated asthma, higher chances of pneumonia, and decreased lung capacity

So if you want to find whether your copier is an ozone producer or not it’s quite easy. You need to ask “How much does the corona wire for this copier run?” If the reply is that it’s included in the cost of the copier then you have an ozone producer on your hands. There are things you can do such as move it away from desks etc. but this is a good place to start.
